How to Fix and Prevent Roof Leakage in Light Steel Structures

图片
Roof leakage is one of the most common problems in light steel workshops and warehouses. It not only affects daily use but also causes internal corrosion, shortens the building’s service life, and leads to higher maintenance costs. Most leakage happens at panel joints, screw holes, flashing areas, or around openings. The main reasons are poor waterproof treatment, aging sealant, loose screws, or improper installation. To fix existing leaks, first clean the surface and locate the leakage points. Replace damaged or aging sealing strips. Re-tighten loose screws or replace them with waterproof self-drilling screws. Apply professional waterproof sealant at joints and openings. For serious cases, add a layer of waterproof coating to improve protection. To prevent future leakage, use high-quality roof panels and waterproof materials from the beginning. Ensure professional installation with standard flashing and sealing design. Conduct regular inspections, especially before rainy seasons, and ...

Essential Welding Methods for Steel Building Construction

图片
Welding is a cornerstone of steel building construction , ensuring structural integrity and longevity. Selecting the appropriate welding method is crucial, as it influences the strength, durability, and efficiency of the construction process. Below, we explore the most commonly used welding techniques in steel building projects.   1. Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Also known as "stick welding," SMAW is one of the oldest and most versatile welding methods. It employs a consumable electrode coated with flux to create an electric arc between the electrode and the base metal. The flux coating disintegrates during welding, producing a shielding gas that protects the weld area from atmospheric contamination. Advantages: Versatility: Suitable for various positions, including overhead and vertical welding. Simplicity: Requires relatively simple equipment, making it accessible for many projects.     Adaptability: Effective for welding thick materials and can be used outd...

Application and Installation of Bolted Ball Grids in the Design of Large-Span Roof Structures

图片
Large-span roofs are a common structural form in modern buildings and are widely used in large-scale public buildings such as stadiums, exhibition centres and airport terminals. In these projects, the structural design should not only meet the functional requirements, but also take into account the economy, aesthetics and construction feasibility. As an efficient space grid structure, bolted ball space frame is widely used in large-span roofing projects due to its advantages of light dead weight, strong bearing capacity and convenient construction. I. Structural design characteristics of bolted ball grid frame Bolted ball mesh rack is a kind of three-dimensional space  structure composed of ball nodes and rods, and its core feature is to connect the rods and ball nodes through bolts to form an overall force system. Compared with traditional steel joist, bolted ball grid has the following structural design advantages: Light deadweight: the rods of bolted ball space struc...

Seven buildings in China designed with ‘bamboo shoots’ in mind

图片
In China, seven buildings were designed with ‘bamboo shoots’ in mind. 1.The 57-metre-high landscape structure ‘ The First Shoot in the World ’ in Taojiang County, Hunan Province, consists of six curved structures similar to the shell of a bamboo shoot, wrapped in a mesh structure on the outside, with a glass curtain wall on the inside and a viewing platform. The building has multiple functions, including observation, forest fire prevention, communication and observation. The shape of the building is based on the imagery of ‘ spring shoots after rain ’ , breaking out of the ground and climbing upwards, symbolising strong, progressive and upward development. 2. China Resources Building Completed and opened in December 2018, China Resources Building, also known as ‘Spring Bamboo Shoots’, is located in the financial headquarters base in Houhai, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. With a height of 392.5 metres and a total gross floor area of approximately 270,000 square metres, it is the thi...
