Regulating Fuel Supply: A coal bunker can help balance the supply and demand for coal. It can store coal when there is sufficient supply to meet peak hour demand, or provide reserve fuel when there is insufficient supply. 

Coal quality management: In a coal bunker, coal can be monitored and managed to ensure its quality meets specific requirements. This includes controlling moisture content, particle size and chemical composition.
