In order to increase the load-bearing capacity, the construction of hangar structures has been accompanied by improvements and innovations to the traditional two-storey space frame structure. For example, the four-bay hangar at Beijing Capital Airport, built in 1996, has a three-storey space frame structure with dimensions of (153+153)m × 90 m.
